Founded by Natalia Nicolau, Ambar crafts contemporary textiles with an artisanal quality. The studio's blankets, throws and cushions feature bold woodblock prints inspired by Brutalist architecture and natural motifs.

We are very passionate about making textiles as interesting and unique as our visual concepts. Each yarn allows for endless different fabrications, which makes the design of knit fabrics exciting and sometimes tricky. Some of our favourite pieces were born out of serendipitous mistakes.
Ambar draws on Natalia Nicolau's decade of experience in textile design, architecture and material research.
Natalia expands upon traditional textile techniques such as hand-weaving and embroidery. Taking a bold and experimental approach to textile design, she works closely with UK suppliers, managing the advanced manufacturing process from start to finish. Although the knits are machine-made, the fabrications have an artisanal look and feel to them, as well as an artisanal scale of production. Ambar's East London studio also serves as a textile development hub where the brand works on surface design, print and custom-made knit projects for both fashion and interior design.
