Drawing inspiration from the ancient stepwells of India, discover the exclusive collection of handknotted rugs designed by Shalini Misra and produced by cc-tapis.

The Stepwells Collection

Each rug is handknotted using the finest natural Himalayan wool and sourced from the surrounding areas of the studio’s atelier in Kathmandu, Nepal. No machines are used and everything is handmade by expert artisans following ancient traditional techniques. Every rug passes through many hands. The raw materials are first carded and hand-spun by one team, dyed by a master colour expert, knotted by Tibetan artisans and finished by a team of expert craftspeople who shave, trim and bind the final piece.

Grounded in the belief to preserve the eternal value and beauty of the stone, Paula and Shilpa partnered with Simeg Marmi, an Italian marble company, to provide their artists access to redundant marble chunks for creative repurposing. Stone Stackers exclusively uses natural stone and minimises the use of heavy machinery in the creation or refining process, instead favouring hand-wrought techniques. The assembling process unfolds naturally and spontaneously, influenced by the distinct characteristics of the broken slabs, preventing precise replication of the pieces.

Italian brand Stone Stackers creatively repurposes precious discarded marble waste into artful pieces of furniture.
